Week 9 Journal Entry
Entitled: "feeling that you have the right to do or have what you want without having to work for it or deserve it, just because of who you are"(Cambridge Dictionary)
I think our Father in Heaven entitles His children to a married couple who honor those marital vows because it is only fair to the child. They deserve the best possible environment; one that heeds the gospel of Jesus Christ or has similar standards.
The proclamation states that happiness is "most likely", because it really isn't a guarantee. No matter how great the situation may be or seem, people still have their agency to be happy or not. Even in the best of scenario's families could still crumble. It's up to the members of the family to choose happiness.
I believe that communication is an implied part of a successful marriage. Especially if the marriage has faith, prayer, love and compassion. Communication plays a vital role in each of those. These are all things that I undoubtedly want to implement in my future marriage.
It's no secret that the father of the home should protect his family physically, but protecting them spiritually is just as important. To do that, the father must teach his family the gospel of Jesus Christ and prepare them to face the adversary that fills the world around us. He should teach them right from wrong, and help them know which decisions to make when peers try to pressure them into doing things that go against God's commandments.
A mother that nurtures her children is one who cares for them in every trial they face. One who listens to them when they just need to talk; one who counsels them and gives them advice; one who loves them no matter what their children use their agency to do.
